In the present research work, xMoO3-(60-x) V2O5-40TeO2 amorphous bulk compositions with different molar content of MoO3 (0≤x≤60 mol%) have been prepared by common melt-quenching method. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at different heating rates (φ) was used to thermal analyze and to find out more insight about calorimetric characteristics of the present glasses. To investigate the optical properties, the optical absorption spectra of samples were taken by UV–Visible spectrophotometer within the wavelength range of 190-1100 nm. Then, derivation of absorption spectrum fitting method (abbreviated as DASF) was used to determine the band gap of the samples. Also, some opto-physical quantities such as the width of the molar refraction (RM) and oxygen packing density were obtained. Results of thermal and optical studies imply that the sample with x= 10 is the optimal sample for optical applications in optical fibers.
