Abstract

Road as service-managerial undeniable utility, with the worldview changing of the natural resources management especially forests, and Predominance environmental factors than economical, have been the focus of attention. Therefore, designers and contractors try to reduce forest road construction cost from economical and environmental point of view. This requires accurate data about the area of road conditions and the composition of all the parameters for construction an optimized forest road. Recently, results of few studies indicated that new techniques such as Ground-penetrating radar and Terrestrial Laser Scanning are two powerful non-destructive tools to collect precise data. Moreover, nowadays, optimization methods (using meta-heuristic algorithms) are used to find near to optimal solution by powerful computers. Therefore, in this study GPR tool and TLS will be applied to collect accurate data for the first time on forest roads. GPR is a non-destructive electromagnetic (EM) geophysical method for high-resolution detection, imaging and mapping of subsurface soils and rock conditions. TLS is used to determine the volume of trees before cutting with high precision and also to create a local DEM to calculate the volume of Earthworks. Then with respect to list prices and according to available instructions the existence mathematical model of construction costs will be improved with accurate data. Near-optimal path using accurate measurement of subsurface layers and precise earthwork volume.
