Ternarytellurateglassesoftheform xSb–(60x)V2O5–40TeO2 (0rxr15inmol%)werepreparedby using theusualmeltquenchingmethod.Differentialscanningcalorimetry(DSC)atdifferentheating rates(φ) wasusedtothermalanalyzeandtogainmoreinsightintothethermalstability,glassforming tendency andsocalorimetricbehaviorofthepresentglasses.Theglasstransitiontemperature(Tg), the temperaturecorrespondingtotheonsetofcrystallization(Tx) andalsothecrystallizationtemperature (TCr) wereobtainedatdifferentheatingrates,toestimatethekeykineticparameterofactivationenergy of crystallization(ΔE) byusingdifferentempiricalformulas.Alsosomeotherthermalparameterssuch as thermalstabilityandglassformingtendencyweredetermined.Itwasfoundthat Tg, Tx and TCr increase withincreaseinSbcontentandalsowithincreaseinheatingrate.Moreover,Makishima– Makenzie’s theorywasemployedtoevaluatethePoisson’s ratioandelasticmoduli,indicatingastrong relation betweenelasticpropertiesandthestructureofglass.Fromthemechanicalandthermaldataand also thevaluesofoxygenmolarvolume ðVn O Þ, itwasfoundedthattheglasssystemscanbedividedinto “two compositionalregions”; so,resultsindicatethatglasseswith10rxr15(especiallyfor x¼12)are more thermalstableandstrongglasses,whichmakethemasmoreusefulandpromisingmaterialsin technological advantagesanddevicemanufacturing
