Abstract

The properties of Ag NPs such as shape, size and distribution can be easily controlled by deposition parameters of thermal evaporation and post annealing. Following this strategy, we prepared Ag NP films and characterized their optical properties with experimental and simulation techniques, considering both near and far field effects. By tuning fabrication parameters, it is possible to induce plasmonic enhancement in OSCs. Simulations show that when Ag NPs are embedded completely within the buffer layer, far field effects, i.e. scattering, dominate are responsible for the increase in photocurrent and performance of the OSCs. Increasing the NP film thickness led to shifts in the plascmonic band due to changes in NP properties, leading to parasitic absorption losses.
