Many recent technologies such as computers and satellites have their own benefits for the users; however, they have their mental and physical destructive effects, as well. There are many reports about these damaging effects on the human brain. This study surveys the effect of using satellite and computer programs on depression. Samples were chosen randomly from among university students ofMalayer University, Malayer, Iranwho were asked to reply toa“depression questionnaire” and two more questions about the length of time they spend on satellite and computer programs daily. Then, data were analyzed by Pearson Correlation via SPSS software. The results revealed that there was no meaningful relationship between using computer andthedepression scale, but there was positive relationship between depression scale in depression questionnaire and the daily use of satellite but not with the other scales of questionnaire. We recommend more researches with more samples. Also, great care is needed when using the computer and satellite programs.
