چکیده

Earthquake and other vibrations cause different levels of damage on buildings, which may result in deterioration or even collapse. Monitoring behavior of building structures is important, which supports building owners, managers and engineers when they need to judge the necessity of evacuation, retrofitting and renovation. The object of monitoring is to identify, locate and classify type and severity of damages induced by external actions or degradation phenomena and to assess their effects on the structural performance. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is the advanced system to support earthquake disaster mitigation and evaluate building conditions, by providing continuous real-time monitoring of building behavior. Based on the above reasons, the main aim of this proposal is to design/produce an inexpensive automatic structural health monitoring system for evaluation of the structural performance of Cultural Heritage (CH) buildings, old bridges and monuments.
