Abstract

The modern technology needs the electrochemical energy devices with increased sa;ety, larger power and energy densities in addition to long cycle li;etime. The solid state electrolytes (SSE) have been developed due to the dramatic development o; portable consumer electronics and the increasing concerns on Sexibility o; energy-storage devices as well as the elimination o; some drawbacks o; the liquid electrolytes. This review introduces all types o; the SSEs ;or various electrochemical devices including batteries, ;uel cells, solar cells and supercapacitors (SCs) with an emphasis on the SCs. The review is ;ollowed by the presentation o; new SSEs containing redox agents, nano metal oxides and carbon materials along with the other nano Rllers. Herein, we show that the use o; novel SSEs could contribute greatly to enhance the electrochemical per;ormance o; the energy related devices with improved speciRc capacitances, energy and power densities.
