Title
Study of Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Formamide and 1‑Alkanol Mixtures at Different Temperatures
Type
JournalPaper
Keywords
In the current study, intermolecular forces in the five binary associating systems containing formamide (FA) and normal alkanols (1-pentanol up to and 1-nonanol) at 293.15 K to 323.15 and atmospheric pressure were investigated. Experimental density and viscosity for binary fluids were measured, and values of excess functions were calculated. The findings indicate that increasing the alkyl chain length increases the excess molar volumes of binary mixtures. Furthermore, values of mutual diffusion coefficients D for the above mixtures were obtained from the experimental viscosities. The observed diffusion behavior for the binary mixtures was explained in terms of intermolecular interactions and structural effects in fluids. For the binary mixtures of formamide + 1-hexanol up to 1-nonanol, a miscibility gap was observed at different mole fractions. Values of density, viscosity, and mutual diffusion coefficients are new and have not been reported in scientific papers yet.
