Abstract

Myrtle (Myrtus communis) is an evergreen shrub, ornamental and medicinal, which is grown in temperate regions and warm. The main purpose of this study was to compare the myrtle of different regions of Iran and study of genetic diversity of this plant by using morphological characters to grouping and comparison myrtle accessions of 6 regions were evaluated 18 morphological traits including growth factors of tree and characteristics of fruit and seeds. Simple correlation coefficients between traits indicated the existence of significant, positive as well as negative correlations among some important vegetative, fruit and seed measured traits. Cluster analysis on eight of Euclidean distance classified cultivars into three main groups. Important factors that divide the main cluster can be noted length and width of leaves, shrub height, length and width of fruit and seed weight. Based on the results, accessions of obtained in Khorram Abad and Aleshtar in some traits such as large leaves, green space for culture was superior to the other accessions.
