چکیده Pyracantha Fortuneana is an Asian species of firethorn belonging to the family Rosaceae. The fruit of this plant has been traditionally consumed for its multiple health benefits, which are largely attributed to its rich content of bioactive compounds, including polyphenols. These compounds have been associated with various health-promoting properties, such as antioxidant and antibacterial effects. Aqueous ethanol (ETOH) is the conventional extraction solvent for polyphenolic production because of its low toxicity to humans. This suggests that Pyracantha Fortuneana could serve as a natural source for developing new antibacterial agents, potentially offering an alternative to traditional antibiotics, particularly in the context of rising antibiotic resistance. Further studies are needed to explore its full potential and practical applications in medicine and other industries. This study aims to explore the antimicrobial effects of extracts derived from the fruit parts of Pyracantha Fortuneana against a range of human pathogenic bacteria, highlighting its potential as a natural source of antibacterial agents. The antibacterial properties of the fruit extracts of the P. fortuneana were tested against four human pathogenic bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, by broth microdilution method. The dried fruit extractions of P. fortuneana were performed using two solvents: ethanol and water. Minimum Inhibitory concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal concentration (MBC) were measured to evaluate the antibacterial effects of P. fortuneana extracts. The analyzed results showed that the ethanolic extract exhibited the highest and most effective antibacterial activity on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. These findings support the potential use of Pyracantha Fortuneana as a source of natural antibacterial agents. Further research is warranted to explore its therapeutic applications and validate its effectiveness in clinical settings.
